Some of the visitors were concerned about a newspaper article from the Cape Codder of April 11th that stated changes that were to be addressed
at the swap shop, specifically a “criminal check”. Lian read them the Charge to the Recycle Committee from the board of Selectman now that the
PAYT study had been addressed. The new Eastham Recycle Brochure was distributed to those present She explained that the committee has been
instructed to make modifications to the SS, it is not an arbitrary decision of the committee. The new Eastham Recycle Brochure was distributed to those present
Many of the audience were concerned about the need for a CORI inquiry to work at the swap shop. Neil and a member of the audience, Dan Gregory,
explained the ruling wherever children or seniors may be involved.
The audience relaxed when they were informed that all members of the committee had gone through the procedure before they became members
of the RC.
Fred informed the audience that the BOH Committee will be meeting on June 26th to discuss the new signage and other relevant SS issues.
The audience was told they would be listed on the agenda for the July 8th meeting and departed at this time.
Andrea gave a progress report on the new handbook for educational purposes and guidelines for the volunteers.
A work meeting will be held July 17th at 6PM to go over the handbooks. Andrea will contact David Quinn for handouts from other
Towns to include in the preparation of Eastham’s informational handouts.
Neil informed us that he had applied for 2 grants a $600 grant for education purposes and a $3000 one for transfer station improvements.
A new Green Giant sign to replace the thermometer sign that will display the changes made of trash versus recycled material was approved. Neil also
informed us that they had started to send the recycles to Yarmouth.
Fred will bring the Physical condition of the Swap Shop and the need for the Library Building up to Neil and the Selectmen. Neil addressed the issues.
Lian will ask the BOS to increase the number of members of the Recycle Committee. Lian felt that we could then possibly ask the head volunteer to join
the RC.
A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Fred & seconded by Joyce.
Respectfully submitted
